A card counter raises his bet when the deck offers favorable odds to the player, and lowers his bet when the deck offers less-than-favorable odds to the player. Something else all of you should note is shuffle tracking, since it's not something the casinos are so well set up to detect. When an ace appears, make a mental note of the 7 or 8 cards which would then precede it as the cards are stacked in the discard tray. After the shuffle, if it has been done correctly by an experienced dealer, the sequence of the cards before it should be spread out but intact.
